DESCRIPTION:Due to the COVID 19 pandemic and the postponement of the 2021 National Western Stock Show\, the NBA will hold its annual Winter Conference February 19 – 20\, 2021 in Rapid City\, South Dakota\, in conjunction with the Dakota Territory Buffalo Association. \nThe conference agenda (see below) will include a virtual streaming option for members who want to participate\, but who do not want to attend in person. Or\, you may attend in person if you are comfortable doing so. \n \nThe Ramkota Inn of Rapid City will be hosting the conference and will have rooms available to attendees at the very reasonable rate of $75/night – double occupancy. If you want to arrive early or stay longer\, you will need to call the hotel directly to book at 605-343-8550\, and ask for the Nation Bison Association block. \nRegistration is now open\, so please register before January 20th\, 2021.

DESCRIPTION:Each November Custer State Park conducts a buffalo auction to keep herd numbers in check with the available rangeland forage. Between 250 and 400 buffalo and a few burros are sold at this auction. Buyers and the public are invited to view the auction. Info: (605) 255-4515 or website. Funds generated from the sale help support the operation of the state park system. The sale has played an important role in establishing herds of buffalo throughout the United States. Buffalo\, which once faced extinction\, now the number reaches over 250\,000.

DESCRIPTION:Heartland Bison Ranch welcomes the NBA Summer Conference Bison Tour! This summer marks the 6th year in a row that Heartland Bison Ranch has hosted a performance class for the Dakota Territory Buffalo Association. Looking back\, Heartland Bison Ranch has hosted three years of heifers\, two years of both heifers and bulls\, and this year they host a very powerful class of Young Gunz Bulls. Both Kevin and Lee agree that “the responsibility of hosting these animals is nothing to take lightly and everyone at Heartland Bison believes that the DTBA performance classes have the ability to alter the direction of any ranch looking to improve their herds”. The DTBA is grateful to Heartland Bison Ranch and the Leier family for the incredible job they do in caring for and preparing these magnificent animals for the Young Guns breeding bull competition.
