SUMMARY:RMBA Fall Ranch Tour and Social
DESCRIPTION:Join RMBA for a two-day\, jam-packed weekend of all thing’s bison. On Friday\, September 12th\, we spend the afternoon in Sheridan\, WY where we will visit Western Heritage Meat Company to tour their USDA processing facility\, smokehouse\, and see a bison carcass processing demonstration. We will then travel a few minutes away to tour a University of Wyoming Extension research plot for controlling invasive grasses. A short distance away we will tour JG Bison and their small ranching operation. That night we will feast on a bison BBQ by NOLA Catering & Private Dining under the relaxing Wyoming sky (please bring your own chair).  \nSaturday morning\, we will be in Thermopolis\, WY to tour the public bison herd and handling facilities at Hot Springs State Park. We will enjoy a nice bison burger lunch at One Eyed Buffalo Brewing Company. After lunch we will split into two groups to visit Buffalo Grass Tannery and Merlin’s Hide Out to see their two business operations and the products they produce. We will then travel to the Wind River Indian Reservation to get a detailed tour of their Wind River Tribal Buffalo Initiative and all they are doing to restore buffalo to their land.

DESCRIPTION:We are all excited for the Dakota Territory Buffalo Association’s 2023 Winter Conference\, and the 1st annual Stack the Deck Show and Sale\, February 2nd-4th at the Ramkota Inn in Rapid City\, South Dakota. You spoke\, we listened\, and I think we have a great line-up of informative speakers\, engaging discussion\, and lot of fun for “The Great Bison Get Together.” \nWe encourage everyone to register online for the 2023 Winter Conference by clicking this link. Cost is $225 per person for the entire conference\, or\, if you are attending the banquet only\, $125 per person and $20 for children. Registration for the conference will close on January 13th\, 2023. DESCRIPTION:Spread the Word on National Bison Day!\n \nGoal: Spread the news about the 2022 National Bison Day\, Saturday\, November 5th\, and Promote Your Bison Work! \nWho? NBA members (growers\, marketers\, conservationists – all of you!) \nWhat? Help spread the word about bison – the US National Mammal and naturally regenerative keystone species while promoting your own good bison work and contribution to restoration. \nWhen? Get started right away! Officially\, National Bison Day is Saturday\, November 5th\, 2022. \nWhere? Local is best. We’ll do an Associated Press news release\, but we need your help to spread the news at the local and regional levels. Use social media\, local media\, farmer’s markets\, festivals… be creative! \nWhy? Since 2012\, the United States Senate annually has designated the first Saturday in November as National Bison Day. This yearly resolution is required because Senate rules do not allow for resolutions to establish any standing “National Day” on a perpetual basis. This resolution has the full support of the National Bison Association\, the Wildlife Conservation Society and the InterTribal Buffalo Council. These three organizations championed the enactment of legislation in 2016 designating bison as the National Mammal of the United States. \nThe President signed the National Bison Legacy Act on May 9\, 2016\, making the North American bison the official National Mammal of the United States. This is a great milestone for an animal that once faced extinction. The bison has played a central role in America’s history and culture and helped shape the Great Plains and the lifestyle of Native Americans. Today\, bison live in all 50 states and serve as a symbol of unity\, resilience\, and healthy lifestyles and communities. \nHow? Glad you asked! We’ve included a template you can modify to create a press release. Fill it out\, then email it to your local newspaper. I like to also call to verify they actually received it\, and check if they need any other information or photographs. \nIn the members section of the NBA Website there is a collection of infographics that work great for answering some of the most asked questions on bison\, or grab your own pack of Buff or Bluff cards! \nWe’ll be sharing more helpful info through the Facebook Official National Bison Association Members Group.
