SUMMARY:Buffalo Beyond Borders 2026 Conference
DESCRIPTION:Gathering Details Where: Drury Plaza Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk 105 S St. Mary’s St\, San Antonio\, TX When: April 13–17\, 2026 (Please see the Agenda Overview Below) What to Expect: This gathering\, in partnership with the Texas Tribal Buffalo Project\, represents a powerful convergence of place\, lineage\, and living systems. By bringing together Indigenous leaders\, partners\, scientists\, policy advocates\, and relatives to reconnect with buffalo\, land\, and one another\, we aim to move shared work forward. Together\, this time offers space not only for strategy\, but for remembrance\, repair\, and renewed relationship that sustain both people and the lands we care for. Together\, we will explore what it means for the spirit of the buffalo to move beyond borders through coordinated actions in science\, policy\, and narrative change\, grounded in Indigenous-led leadership and lived experience. Gathering Design To support deeper connection and collective momentum\, there is a single registration option\, and we ask participants to plan to attend for the full duration of the week. Rather than centering reports and presentations\, this gathering will emphasize strong facilitation\, active participation\, and collaborative problem-solving. Sessions are designed to be engaging\, relational\, and action-oriented\, with the goal of leaving San Antonio with shared commitments and next steps for buffalo restoration. We also approach this gathering as a ceremony for the buffalo\, a time to call in our boldest visions\, honor the land and our relatives\, and feel the support of the earth holding us all. Registration & What’s Included ** Early Bird Registration ($50 off) is available through March 2. ** Monday Evening Welcome Reception Lunches throughout the Gathering Coffee and Refreshments Field trip and roundtrip transportation to the Texas Tribal Buffalo Project herd in Floresville\, located at their recently rematriated 150-acre ranch. Field Trip Highlights: Tipi Talks Buffalo Harvest (The meat from the harvest will be going to to the mothers in the Meat for Mamas Program and the San Antonio Health Equity Network.) Registration and transportation for the Floresville field trip are fully included in the Buffalo Beyond Borders registration and are a central part of the gathering\, not an optional add-on. SUMMARY:2026 NCUSAHA District Meeting
DESCRIPTION:“We are again hosting the North Central district meeting. The last time we hosted this event was 2012 and Dakota Territory Buffalo Association was a big supporter of the event. Below is some information regarding the meeting and attached is our sponsorship options. \n\nSouth Dakota will be hosting the USAHA North Central District meeting this May 12-14th. This is an opportunity to showcase the livestock (and really all agriculture) industries of South Dakota to State Animal Health Officials from the other North Central states. (ND\, NE\, KS\, MN\, IA\, MO\, IN\, IL\, OH\, WI\, MI) \n\nIn addition\, there may be USDA Veterinary Services personnel attending this meeting\, as well as industry representatives who actively interact with the livestock industry. We are planning a bus tour with several stops to show off some of the more advanced livestock industry operations in South Dakota. Obviously\, we would like to stop at many locations in the state\, but with a limited time available\, we have selected the following locations to visit. \nhttps://www.dakotabuffalo.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/home-hero-v2.jpg \nSAB BIO– Canton SD-Uses genetic engineering to produce human IgG from cloned cattle \nMedgene-Brookings SD-Develops and produces new vaccines with cutting edge techniques \nHoudek-Brookings SD-Uses a fermentation process to produce sustainable ingredients for aquaculture and livestock feeds \nADRDL-Brookings SD-Diagnostic lab with new facilities and cutting-edge disease testing development \nDare to Dream-Pierre SD-Equine rehab and conditioning facility \nJorgenson Land and Cattle-Ideal SD-The number one bovine seedstock producer in the US \n\nPutting this meeting together is challenging from the financial side of things as we are striving to keep registration costs to a reasonable amount.  As such\, I would like to humbly request your support and assistance in highlighting the livestock industries in South Dakota. Attached you will find information on donation levels. You and any other representatives of DTBA would be welcome to attend so we could thank you personally for your support. \n\nPlease reach out to me or the AIB office at 605-773-3321 if you have any questions or would like more information.

SUMMARY:North American Summit on Collaborating With Wildlife in Park Getaways
DESCRIPTION:What is the purpose of the Summit? Drawing large\, multi-sector participation from across the continent\, the CW Summit aims explore\, establish\, and resource Models & Methodologies for Collaborating with Wildlife (CW)  impacting the way North American societies understand and act toward native species. It acts on the basis that wildlife and humans are not separate but together part of a single\, interconnected system—while acknowledging that wildlife are losing the competition for resources and habitat occupation. CW evolves concepts of wildlife as merely subordinate\, consumptive resources\, or threats to human health and safety. Instead\, CW acts on a concept of wildlife as intrinsically and functionally collaborative toward sustaining nature. Why Park Gateways?  In the CW Summit context\, the term “park” generically describes protected natural areas maintained for wildlife. Accessible parks draw increasing tourism and recreation and attracting new residents bringing development to park outskirts. Being lost at a rapid clip are the family farms\, ranches and other areas which often serve as extended open space for park wildlife. Land and ocean habitats alike are increasingly traversed by traffic and changed by infrastructure. Displacement\, intolerance\, and habitat loss are common challenges for wildlife venturing outside today’s parks.
